The 2019 Nackenheim Rothenberg Wurzelecht Riesling GG is deep, ripe, intense and flinty on the nose, which is so highly complex that you are better off not listing everything you pick from the rim of the glass. Full-bodied, generous and silky on the palate, as well as pure, precise and refined, this is a highly energetic Rothenberg and surely the best I have ever tasted from this spectacular terroir. The finish is mouthwatering, fresh and salty and celebrates purity and tension in wine. This is power without weight and finesse without charm. Finishing without ending. This 2019 Rothenberg from ungrafted vines is a challenge—a crime if you miss it! Tasted as a sample in April 2020. To be released in September this year. Very rare.
