Puligny Pucelles, Olivier Leflaive 2022

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru stands out on the nose for its weighty reduction, which obscures some of the terroir and fruit profile. However, I do not feel it is fixed and should be remedied with bottle age. The palate is well balanced, unsurprisingly carrying on the reductive style, but there is patently a lot of energy coiled up in this Puligny and it feels tangy and vibrant on the finish. Tuck this away for another three to five years. Bottled under Diam 10. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2030-2049)

A bright mid lemon yellow. The bouquet starts quietly though with a suggestion of yellow fruit. There is plenty of latent power on the palate, with the fruit including some mirabelle along with more classic white orchard fruit. Plenty of oak at the finish, but with the fruit concentration to match.
