The 2025 Pofadder is pure Cinsault on schist soils, matured in 40-year-old foudres and concrete vats. Like the Soldaat, there is some reduction on the nose, behind which lies vibrant red berry fruit, with touches of warm slate coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with vivid strawberry and raspberry fruit, a touch of white pepper and graphite. There is a little more body compared to the Soldaat, a touch of sour cherry mixed with blackberry and a precise and persistent finish that lingers in the mouth.
