Main Road & Dignity Cabernet Sauvignon, Restless River 2021

This cabernet has an attractive saline character. It shows blackcurrants, iodine, crushed stones, tobacco and sandalwood on the nose, as well as a hint of mint chocolate, but it remains savory and mineral on the palate. Medium- to full-bodied, it has firm, lightly chalky tannins and a classy finish. From two blocks (Main Road and Dignity) planted in 1998.

Four different clones, planted on three different sites, make up the blend of this celebrated cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon that's just notched up its twentieth vintage. Curated for two years in 30% new oak, it has graphite and fynbos, damson and blackcurrant flavours, sturdy tannins and a palate that flirts with but avoids greenness. Sui generis.
