Tasting notes

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, January 2014 99

A white that is dense and structured with amazing honey and dried-fruit character. Mango, pineapple and papaya. Chalky undertones from the soil. Full and chewy with a beautiful depth of fruit and intensity. So much going on here. Phenomenal depth of fruit. Why drink grand cru Burgundy? Better in 2017.

Neal Martin, RobertParker.com, April 2012 93/95

A blend of 85% Sauvignon Bland and 15% Semillon, the Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has a very taut bouquet with scents of granite, lemon rind and a touch of white peach and chalk dust. Great focus and intensity although it takes time to unwind. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely elegant white peach and a drop of wild honey, very good acidity and a caressing, vanilla-tinged finish that shows great length. This is better than the red this year. Tasted April 2012.

Derek Smedley MW, April 2012 91/94

Sweet fruit fills out the nose and enriches the palate. The layers of flavour first tropical fruits then grapefruit and lime give complexity with the freshness bringing out the fragrances on the long finish.

Tim Atkin MW, timatkin.com, April 2012 95

"Super" is how Rémi Edange rates his own wine and it's hard to disagree. This lees-aged, barrel fermented white blend is a stunner: citrus fresh, yet with a layer of exotic, almost peachy fruit, subtle oak, a hint of reduction and a bright, grapefruity finish. The sort of wine I'd love to have in my own cellar to revisit over the next decade. 5+ years.

Steven Spurrier, Decanter.com, April 2012 18

Pale lemon gold, dry herbs and dry honey over vibrant purity of fruit, great precision and length. A beautiful vineyard wine with a great future.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2012 97/98

Amazing nose of dried fruits from peaches to apples to mangos. Pink grapefruit too. Full and very powerful white with an incredible length and intensity. It's like a beautiful block of velvet in your mouth. It goes on for minutes. It becomes so mineraly and subtly fruity at the end. Turns just to honey. Wow.
