Tasting notes

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (222), December 2015 92/94

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Fuées had still not finished its malolactic fermentation when I tasted it, because of the low pH (Gilbert told me that in fact, the 2013 did not finish until Christmas). Still, the nose cannot disguise those gorgeous rose petal and violet scents that render the aromatics quite flamboyant and showy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a sorbet-like freshness pervading this wine, with the 60% new oak discrete and allowing the terroir to show through on the tensile finish. This is superb.

John Gilman, View From the Cellar (62), April 2016 93+

As I noted last year, the domaine has two parcels of vines in les Fuées, with one planted to fifty year-old vines on the border with les Cras (and right next to Christophe Roumier’s rows there) and the other, which are twenty years of age and lie at the other end of the vineyard right next to Bonnes-Mares. The 2014 Domaine Felettig les Fuées is one of the more reserved premier crus out of the blocks (or perhaps more shut down after the mise?), but with some coaxing delivers a fine nose of red and black cherries, chalky soil tones, a nice touch of Bonnes-Mares-likeheather, violets and new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, focused and very suave on the attack, with a full-bodied and tightly-knit format, very good sappiness down in the core, finegrained tannins and excellent length and grip on the poised and focused finish. 2024-2065+
