Chardonnay X Novo, Walter Scott Wines 2017

Glistening yellow. Mineral-tinged nectarine, orange, honey and white flowers on the intensely perfumed nose. Silky and tightly focused in the mouth, offering vibrant citrus and orchard fruit flavors that are complemented by suggestions of fennel, sweet butter and saffron. Shows excellent depth as well as energy and finishes minerally, dry and extremely long, with resonating citrus fruit and mineral notes. (Drink between 2022-2029)

The 2017 X Novo Chardonnay is still youthfully coiled on the nose, offering gunflint, stone, hazelnuts and citrus blossoms with a core of white peaches and Greek yogurt. Medium-bodied and silky, it gains intensity in the glass, slowly opening up from bright mineral to savory bass tones, framed by tangy acidity and finishing with great texture, lingering and changing in the mouth for at least a minute. Bright, minerally, tangy and youthful, this will flesh out with a couple of years in bottle. 325 cases produced.
