Meursault Perrieres, Louis Jadot 2022

Smoky notes of mineral reduction add breadth to the cool and airy aromas of spiced green apple, citrus rind and floral wisps that are trimmed in noticeable oak. The acceptably dense and refined medium weight flavors possess a lovely texture that carries over to the markedly stony bitter lemon zest-suffused finale that is nicely dry but not really austere. There is already good depth to this balanced effort and while it should be capable of repaying up to a decade of keeping, it should be reasonably approachable after only 5-ish years.

A little more power to the nose ahead of its stablemates Charmes and Genevrières, indeed much more backward. The talent of Perrières is to have this enormous weight of fruit while delivering also a crystalline minerality. This has an impressively broad density of fruit behind, the detail not yet being expressed. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: October 2023.
