Aromas of pear, sweet citrus fruit, pastry cream and toasty new oak introduce the 2023 Mâcon-Pierreclos Lieu Sécret, a medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny wine that's layered and fleshy, concluding with a long finish. It's another home run for this cuvée. 2024 - 2034

From vines that touch the Chavigne vineyard of Domaine Guffens-Heynen but, as they are not owned by the domaine (though the domaine picks all the grapes), it is bottled under the Verget label. Jean-Marie Guffens prefers to keep the grape source of this wine a secret, hence the name. Matured in oak barrels of which 25% are new.Light putty nose. Polished tannins and flavours of confit citrus peel. Good undertow. (JR)
