Tasting notes

Neal Martin, vinous.com, September 2018 91

The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse has a classic, nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary, autumn leaves and cedar aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious and cohesive with supremely well judged acidity that lends the finish a silky smooth, gently grippy finish that bodes well for the future. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2019 92

Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there’s rather classic balance with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold.

Jane Anson, Decanter.com, July 2020 92

Closed right now, a good sign that this has the structure for ageing. This is a serious wine with spiced cassis and blackberry fruit, fresh acidities and plenty of tannins. Enjoyable, and an excellent example of the value and quality that can be found with the 2016 vintage. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. Drinking Window 2022 - 2036.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, June 2019 16+

Deep crimson. Very bright depth of colour. Still a little raw. One of the most youthful. Jam-packed with tannins but also with rather fine ripe fruit.

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, April 2019 93

This rich wine is built by generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits. A hint of dark chocolate offers depth and an edge of extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness. Drink from 2023.
