Tasting notes

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, March 2025 93

Aromas of sweet cherries, baked plums, licorice and cigar wrapper introduce the 2022 Latour à Pomerol, a medium to full-bodied, rich and creamy wine that's ripe and supple, with soft tannins that assert themselves on the finish. 2025 - 2042

Neal Martin, vinous.com, February 2025 93

The 2022 Latour à Pomerol has a relatively low-key bouquet, although there is much more complexity here than the preceding Certan de May. A mixture of red and black fruit, black truffle and light smoky scents, this gains aromatic weight with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, lightly spiced and gently tannic. It's sapid toward the finish that tempts you back for more. This is a lovely, quite understated Pomerol for the vintage.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2025 96

A ripe and opulent Latour a Pomerol, aromas of currants and raspberry puree following through to a medium body. This has a firm and silky palate from fine tannins that frame the luscious fruit nicely. Juicy finish. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. Drink after 2028.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, May 2023 93/95

Deep garnet-purple in color 2022 Latour a Pomerol sashays out with graceful notes of raspberry coulis, chocolate covered cherries, and stewed plums, leading to wafts of forest floor, iron ore, and wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegantly played with graceful, ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness supporting the nuanced red and black fruits, finishing on a mineral note. This is made from 100% Merlot.

Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, March 2025 93

This really does strike the right balance between intensity, concentration and juiciness, certainly marked by the vintage in terms of its power and kick of rosemary and cloves, but there is beautiful juiciness behind it, and plenty of black cherry and damson fruit, grilled cherry pit on the finish, with aniseed and liquorice. One that shows there is a big difference in Pomerol this. year between terroirs and winemaking choices. Very good. 8ha, Lacoste-Loubat, harvest September 1 to 8, deep gravel and clay soils, with clay-sandy sectors.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate (266), April 2023 91/94

The 2022 Latour à Pomerol wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, red berries, licorice and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a sweet core of fruit, polished tannins and a ripe but lively profile, this is a fine effort.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2023 97/98

Already shows very classy aromas of black berries, currants and black olives. Violets and other dried flowers. Full-bodied yet tight and polished with a reserved and muscular form, with finesse at the same time. New 1982? Pure merlot.
