Tasting notes

Neal Martin, vinous.com, February 2022 93

The 2019 La Tour Figeac has a light nose that needs more presence and fruit intensity. Given rigorous aeration, it almost reluctantly offers brambly red fruit and brown spices, yet I feel these introspective aromatics just don’t want to come out and play. The harmonious palate is far better than the nose and confirms that my effusive praise from barrel was not misplaced. It delivers fine tannins, a lovely seam of acidity and a silky finish. Tuck it away for at least three years. (Drink between 2025-2045)

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2022 92

The 2019 La Tour Figeac is generous and charming, bursting with aromas of blueberry preserve, sweet spices, dark chocolate and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with powdery tannins, succulent acids and a sweet core of fruit, it will offer a broad drinking window. It's produced from gravely soils and contains an appreciable percentage of very old vine Cabernet Franc. Drink 2023 -2045

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, January 2022 93

Aromas of currants, blackberries, bark, toasted oak, walnut husk and chocolate orange. Medium-to full-bodied with a rich, flavorful and layered palate. Ripe, well-integrated tannins. Delicious finish. Merlot and cabernet franc. Drink from 2024.

Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, April 2022 94

Lots of ripe black cherries, mulberries, Christmas spice, incense, and dried flower notes emerge from the 2019 Château La Tour Figeac, a classy, medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion with supple, finely polished tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. This wonderful 2019 already offers loads of pleasure and will keep for 15-20 years, easily. (Drink between 2022-2042)
