Tasting notes

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, November 2023 92/95

This new vineyard is on red soil at the top of the vineyard, along with the previously existing 0.20ha of Clos Sorbè. Jacques notes that unlike Clos Baulet, Clos Sorbè is angled a touch to the south, making it a sunnier site. 40% whole bunch vinification here too. A slightly fuller ruby colour, with more red fruit and less white pepper, in comparison with Baulet. Strawberry and raspberry, suave, svelte, a little touch of velvet while retaining the slight savoury touch of Morey. Interesting to make such different wines from neighbouring plots.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2025 95

A complex, nuanced nose of spices, herbs and roses. Tense on the palate, though it’s delicate and very refined. The lingering finish goes on and on. Drink or hold.

Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.com, May 2023 95

2022 is the first year for the Morey premier cru Clos Sorbè, made famous by the Morey legend Jacky Truchot. The wine seems more elegant and fine than that somewhat rustic style, with an expressive cherry and pomegranate fruit, hints of rose petals and liquorice, and an approachable but still substantial and tannic texture. Devauges notes that the terres rouges (iron-bearing clay) soils are a bit warmer than the adjoining Clos Baulet. The total holding for the domaine is a relatively substantial 1.15 hectares. (Drink between 2028-2055)

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, March 2024 17.5

Bright crimson. Much more reticent nose than Clos Baulet but it seems promising. Lighter, fresher nose than Clos Baulet but lots of fruit concentration, and tannin, on the palate. More complex than Clos Baulet. More refined and very long. ‘A little Clos des Lambrays’, according to Jacques Devauges. Drink: 2027-2040
