Chevalier Montrachet Demoiselles, Louis Jadot 2018

11 barrels made from half a hectare. Clear to full lemon, quite a powerful nose, chiselled white fruit. This actually seems to have more volume than the Bâtard first up – normally it is the other way round with Chevalier winning instead on finesse. This year’s Demoiselles offers amazing density without losing any of its Chevalier character. This is really impressive with waves of flavour which just keep coming back for more. The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is showing very well indeed, unfurling in the glass with scents of citrus oil, fresh Anjou pear, almond paste and white flowers, deftly framed by a nicely integrated application of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a concentrated and tight-knit core, lively acids and a long, chalky finish.
