Tasting notes

Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate (180), December 2008 95

The 1995 Vintage provides a fascinating contrast to the 1996. This is a tightly wound, sinewy Champagne loaded with brioche, toasted oak, lemon rind, flowers and minerals. The mousse is extremely fine and the style decidedly more linear and fresh than the 1996. Though deceptively medium-bodied in style, the wine appears to be built for extended cellaring.. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.

Bruce Sanderson, WineSpectator.com, May 2006 98

A very youthful '95. Delicate. Intense aromas of ginger, citrus, candied berry and multigrain bread turn to honey, roasted almonds and graphite on the palate. It's all underscored by creamy texture and a precise structure that keeps it persistent through the long finish. A picture of precision and intensity. Drink now through 2025.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, August 2009 17.5

Lovely steady fine bead - very fine bubbles. Delicate on the nose then a very slightly oxidised note (perhaps oak related) on the palate. Lovely tiny bubbles but dry on the palate with a hint of ginger and a rather drying finish. More juice please. Slightly short to be picky about it. Lemony. Drink 2005-2012. Date tasted 13th Feb 09.

WineSpectator.com (Top 100), December 2006 98

Six generations of the Krug family have produced Champagne at this prestigious house since 1843, with president Rémi Krug's nephew, Oliver, directing the business today. Despite a very warm summer during 1995 in the Cham-pagne area, this bubbly displays elegance and refinement. After the first fermentation in small oak barrels, the blending of various lots and almost 10 years in bottle (during which the second fermentation occurred), the wine was disgorged early in 2005 before being released this year. 1,700 cases imported
