Tasting notes

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2024 94/96

The 2023 La Fleur-Pétrus is very attractive, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries, sweet cherries and plums mingled with hints of incense and spices, discreetly framed by new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's deep and textural, its rich core of fruit framed by plenty of sweet, powdery tannin.

Neal Martin, vinous.com, April 2024 92/94

The 2023 La Fleur-Pétrus was picked September 7 to 19. Now, this is a level up from the Hosanna, with greater precision and focus—very pure and more terroir-driven. The palate is sleek and smooth on the entry, with svelte tannins, a perfect line of acidity and a very harmonious finish that fans out nicely. This is a refined La Fleur-Pétrus that should age well in bottle.

Yohan Castaing, RobertParker.com, April 2026 95

Perfumed and refined, the 2023 La Fleur-Pétrus has turned out very well, offering aromas of rose petals, dark berries, plums and incense, with new oak rendered almost imperceptible. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and deep, it is layered, built around a concentrated core of fruit framed by powdery tannins and concluding with a long, penetrating, mineral finish. The blend comprises 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, matured in 50% new oak.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2024 97/98

Very tight for this chateau, with blackberry, chocolate and black-cherry character, as well as a hint of smoky oak. Full and very poised with focus and beauty. 96.5% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 0.5% cabernet sauvignon.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, May 2024 93/95+

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 La Fleur-Petrus strolls out of the glass with confidently classic notes of ripe plums, boysenberries, and pencil shavings followed by nuances of lilacs, iron ore, and tapenade. The medium-bodied palate is tight-knit and lively, with fine-grained tannins and a lingering ferrous finish. The blend is 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Petit Verdot.

Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, March 2026 95

Impressive, carefully constructed a slow unfoll, full of Pomerol texture and flesh, concentrated roasted coffee bean, and incense, expands through the palate, oyster shell salinity on the finish alongside dark cassis fruits and lifted tannic frame. 50% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 7 to 19.

James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com, May 2024 17

96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 0.5% Petit Verdot. Cask sample.Violet-ruby hue. Red-berry aromas. Really refined palate, the fruit juicy and pure, the tannins extremely fine. Not much sweetness but clean, fresh and persistent. Plenty of charm. (JL)Drink 2030 – 2042

Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, April 2024 95

Vibrant plum colour, richly textured from the first moments, bringing you squarely into Pomerol. Intense concentrated espresso and liqourice, the construction is expertly done, with lifted architecture, confident tannins and lift on the finish, turning on the pleasure factor as it opens in the glass. Harvest September 7 to 19.
