Tasting notes

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (41), January 2011 94

A cool, stony and reserved nose features spice, dark and red berry fruit, obvious earth and smoked game influences, all of which continue onto the intensely mineral-infused big-bodied flavors that for all the size and power remain beautifully detailed on the focused, powerful and moderately austere finish. This has wonderful potential and should be one of the longest-lived wines among the Dujac '08s.

Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate (189), June 2010 94

Black tea, herbal essences, tar, dried blood, and concentration of tiny black raspberries are suggested on the nose and palate of Dujac's 2008 Bonnes Mares. For all of its density, this exhibits invigorating primary juiciness, finishing with spirit-lifting, exuberant buoyancy and a nearly indelible paving of berry and herb essences, tar, graphite, and white pepper. This is a terrific ambassador for its vintage - I find it hard to imagine another year in which it could have been grown - and one that should perform admirably for another 12-15 years.
