Tasting notes

Georgina Hindle, Decanter.com, May 2025 95

Gorgeously expressive aromatics on the nose - ripe blackcurrants, violets and dark chocolate scents pour out of the glass. Fleshy and ripe tannins have a liquorice and salty edge which combine to give both a sense of richness and mineral bite while soft acidity and cool blue fruit add freshness and lift. A lovely balance between the clear power and seduction of Pomerol in hot vintages but with a light touch in terms of density. Feels really well made, precise and poised. Organic. 2025-2045

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, January 2025 96

The blackberry and blueberry character comes through nicely here. Blackcurrants too. Full-bodied with creamy and round tannins and a smoky dark-mushroom and dark-fruit finish. Extremely well done. 67% merlot, 27% cabernet franc and 6% cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2029.

Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, January 2025 94

Starts closed, still very much in primary phase, opening to show violet and peony notes, giving pomerol typicity alongside a firm tannic structure. Its spiced backbone reflects the heat of the vintage, but this is good quality. Winemaker Guillaume Fredoux, overseen by director Vincent Priou. 45% new oak barrels; 36hl/h yield, Moulin family owners, of Galeries Lafayette.

Antonio Galloni, January 2025 94

The 2022 Beauregard is one of the best wines I have tasted here in some time. Aromatic, layered and fleshy, the 2022 has quite a bit to offer. Lavender, spice, new leather, cedar and a touch of new oak build in this fleshy, demonstrative Pomerol. This is another positive step for this Pomerol estate. The 2022 spent around 15 months in French oak, a combination of standard barrels and larger 500-liter tonneaux, plus a bit of wine aged in wine globes and amphorae.

Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, February 2025 94

The 2022 Château Beauregard is a blend of 67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from gravelly clay and sandy soils. Aged for 15 months in 45% new barrels, it offers a round, lush style and reminds me slightly of the 2016. Ripe black fruits, chocolaty oak, damp earth, and tobacco define the aromatics. Full-bodied and beautifully layered, it has velvety tannins and a polished, seamless profile. It will evolve gracefully over the coming two decades. (Drink between 2025-2045)
