Meursault Goutte d'Or, Domaine des Comtes Lafon 2023

The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or is very attractive, delivering aromas of honeyed pears, orange zest and subtle hints of more exotic fruits, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate with a sweet core of fruit, succulent acids and a long, saline finish.

As is often the case, the Gouttes d'Or from Lafon is among the richest wines in the cellar, with aromas of melon and quince. Tasted out of barrel, there is a bit of reduction. The texture is dense – Pierre Lafon commented: 'It has broader shoulders because there is more soil and the parcel starts lower on the hillside compared to Bouchères.' This wine will open more fully in three to five years and drink for another 20. (Drink between 2030-2050)
