Tasting notes

Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, August 2015 90

Beaurenard's 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault aged in small barrels and foudre) is a beautiful, fully mature red that offers lots of coffee bean, roasted herbs, garrigue and sweet, almost chocolaty fruit. Nicely balanced, medium-bodied and textured, it opens up well with air and is drinking at point.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (189), June 2010 89

The regular cuvee from the Coulon family of the 1998 Beaurenard displays loads of licorice, black currant, and chocolate, and is close to full maturity with its medium to full-bodied flavors. Dark plum/garnet, with a savory, open-knit, fleshy mouthfeel, it is delicious, seductive, and ideal for drinking over the next 4-5 years.
